This summer was one of our busiest for a while with events across the UK back in full swing! 2022 was also the year of our new and exciting partnership with Ascot Racecourse, the year that Polo in the Park returned and so much more...
This summer kicked off with the Platinum Jubilee and it was amazing to be involved in some local activity with Your Harrogate. Our hometown of Harrogate is so important to us here at Slingsby so we continue to do fun things in and around North Yorkshire. One of the highlights of the Platinum Jubilee was the adorable furry visitors we had at our Harrogate store, including the gorgeous Mr. Bingley. Just look at him!
Fast forward to June and it was time for Polo in the Park - one of the highlights of London's summer calendar. It was great to be back and have the Slingsby Gin garden equipped with lots of space for catching up with friends and not forgetting our photobooth which always goes down a treat... it's a very Instagrammable event after all! We had so much fun cheering on polo players from all over the world, and don't get us started on the fashion!
Earlier in the year, we announced that we're the new official gin at Ascot Racecourse and this is something Team Slingsby were all SO excited about, especially as it meant Slingsby Gin would be enjoyed at the most anticipated race meeting of the year, Royal Ascot! During our time at Royal Ascot, every bar within the venue was serving Slingsby Gin and to top this off, we also had 3 branded Slingsby Gin bars around the racecourse. Two of these were in the Queen Anne Enclosure and one was in the Royal Enclosure.
One of our new summer traditions is the Slingsby Golf Day which is all about bringing people together to play some great golf at Rudding Park and lots of money for charity! We had this year's Slingsby Golf Academy cadets join us as Zara Tindall, Judy Murray and Dr. Zoe Williams all played a full round of golf together for the first time. We also had lots of familiar faces join us, including last year's Golf Academy winner Helen Skelton, for a gin-fuelled day.
July in Harrogate means one thing; the Great Yorkshire Show and it was time for the Slingsby Gin big wheel to make a return! It was great to be back sampling at the event too and bring the Spirit of Harrogate to the event.
Later in the month we were back at Ascot, this time for the QIPCO King George Diamond Weekend which included the Slingsby Gin Handicap Stakes. Yes, we had our own race which saw 10 horses run. It was a totally new experience for us and one that we really enjoyed!
We rounded the summer of 2022 off at the BMW PGA Championship. The weekend kicked off with the Celebrity Pro-Am and it was time for this year's Slingsby Golf Academy winner Judy Murray to play 18-holes alongside professional golfers such as Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm! You can find out how her day went in episode 6. The rest of the weekend saw golf lovers flock to Wentworth and the Slingsby Gin Garden was there when they were ready to unwind and socialise with their friends/family.
